The Half of It
Comedy/Drama/Rom-Com
In this coming-of-age comedy, The Half of It follows Anthony and Erin — two half-Asian college students on the cusp of graduation — as they navigate burgeoning adulthood and their respective identities. Oh, and did I mention a party was involved?
애기야 (Baby)
Drama/Romance
In this Korean reimagining of Anton Chekhov’s “The Darling”, Baby follows Sarang as she loves and loves… and loves again, discovering her own truths in the midst of it all.
Alma Mater: University of Washington - Seattle
Inspiration: I’m inspired by many writers across various art forms. Included in the list is Barry Jenkins, Spike Jonze, Charlie Kaufman, Wong Kar-Wai, Bong Joon-ho, Park Chan-wook, Greta Gerwig, Sofia Coppola, Björk, and Kanye West. I also really love stories that center the Asian-American experience. I pull a lot of inspiration from that.
Bio: 23, Korean-American. I spent my childhood in South Korea before moving to the United States where I developed a love for screenwriting. I spent the rest of my time living in Seattle — graduating with a BA from the University of Washington — before moving to Los Angeles, where I now study screenwriting at UCLA.
Ever since I was young, I had envisioned a future in which I could contribute to Asian-American cinema in a way that offers fresh ideas and worthwhile representation. I have no desire to rehash what’s been done a million times before, and I’m not married to a particular genre. I write with the hopes to connect with audiences that both look like me and don’t look like me alike.
