Short Bio: Natasha Joyce is a second-year MFA Screenwriting student at UCLA. Before graduate school, she earned a B.A. in theatre, and went on to work for the Smithsonian Folklife Festival. She was raised in Annapolis, Maryland, and often finds herself writing stories set in her home state. When she’s not writing, she enjoys exploring the hiking trails of Southern California and dancing.
Short Artist Statement: What makes a place home? How is the changing climate effecting the way we live? I write TV Drama and features about the environment and people’s relationship with land. I’m influenced by the place I grew up – its landscapes, traditions and communities.
Logline #1: THE OYSTER WARS - TV Show - In 1871 Maryland, a German-Jewish immigrant escapes forced servitude on an oyster pirate ship, only to return and rise through the ranks of the thriving, but ruthless oyster industry.
Logline #2: RED TIDE - TV Show - After finding the body of a local politician, an Animal Control Officer becomes entangled in a murder investigation that includes a corrupt poultry company, a slew of dead animals, and her own dark past.
Logline #3: STONEMILL - TV Show - On the day of a devastating flash flood, a woman returns to her home town to confront a man who assaulted her, but soon finds herself the main suspect in his disappearance.
