Short Bio: Zachary Arthur is a current graduate student in the UCLA Screenwriting Department. He found his way into screenwriting after obtaining his master's degree in Journalism from Harvard University--quickly realizing that he wanted to stay as far away from the journalism space as possible. His love of writing still burned deep, and telling stories of the screen seemed like a great way for him to use a bit of his pent up creativity. He was hooked after writing his first page. He is biracial (half-black, half-white) and was raised by a single mother in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Short Artist Statement: Race is a strong element in everything he writes as his upbringing was unique in a racial sense. He loves to turn common themes on their heads by introducing race in a way that's rarely been written about before.
Logline #1: A college virgin who struggles with his racial identity is presented with an opportunity he can't pass up--to experience sex through the world of swinging
Logline #2: In search of an old memory, five friends tackle a break up, the loss of a brother, and the pressures of adulthood on a cross-country road trip to the world's last Blockbuster.
Logline #3: In a world where dirt doesn't exist, a young journalist's life is flipped upside down after a fall outside a bus stop results in his shoe getting dirty.
