Short Bio: I was born and raised in Virginia, where I grew up appreciating the art of storytelling. I consumed stories from books, and from music, but the stories that I consumed from films, have moved me in a way that none of the others could, and it would change my life forever. I can still remember being a kid, playing with my friends and acting out our favorite scenes of movies. I knew then, that I wanted to be a part of telling stories on screen, and that's when the screenwriter inside of me was born. I went on to study screenwriting at Brooklyn College, in New York, where I obtained my Bachelor's degree, with a minor in African-American studies. Now, I am here in my second and final year in UCLA's screenwriting program, ready for what my writing future holds.
Short Artist Statement: I like to write within the genres of drama and comedy. I like to write dramas that tell grounded stories, of tragic or triumph, with an underlying message to society. I write comedy screenplays that can make my audience laugh at social constructs, and still come away with a larger message.
Logline #1: "Chase N Cash" - Romance/Comedy - A charming playboy, meets a stylish, and sassy playgirl, and they become a funny, odd couple. Unknowing to him, she's only with him to have a plus-one for her brother's wedding. Unknowing to her, he's fallen in love. After he discovers the truth, she must recapture his love and trust.
Logline #2: "Shark City" - 1-Hour Drama - A graduating senior, destined to break the family cycle of poverty, crime, and addiction, has his world flipped, when his older brother is murdered. When being the head of the household becomes a financial burden, he follows his brother’s footsteps into a life of crime that he’s been avoiding.
Logline #3: "Gemini" - Drama/Coming of Age - An ambitious teenager, lives a double life, trying to fit into his new school, while holding on to his sense of belonging in his old impoverished neighborhood that raised him. But when it is no longer possible to juggle both, he must choose a side, before it is too late.
