Name: Connor Huchton
Graduation Year: 2021
Feature Track or TV Track: Feature
Contact Email: connormhuchton@gmail.com
Short Bio: I was born in Baltimore, grew up in West Texas, graduated from Stanford, worked as a production assistant for a few years in Los Angeles on Netflix shows like Love and Glow, and am now fortunate enough to attend UCLA, (hopefully) writing better screenplays than bios, and – unlike (too much of) my work - I'll keep it short here.
Short Artist Statement: I love writing mysteries. I love writing absurdist comedies. I love writing about families and the healing they so often require. I love writing about west Texas and California and the places I know best. I love writing about overwhelmed characters that do their damndest to make it work. I love to use genre as a vehicle into the surreal and absurd a la the work of David Lynch or Elaine May. I love delving into the unknown with stories that prioritize questions instead of demanding answers, and not vice versa.
Logline #1: Catharsis - Feature - In the wake of Eli Muskin's quintessentially Hollywood death, the surviving Muskins embark for dreaded Los Angeles in pursuit of whatever remains of their estranged relative.
r
Logline #2: Lyca - TV Show - Tonight Lyca Delgado was finally leaving the shitty west Texas town of Silver for good, but some…thing…bit her by the moonlight, and now she's itchy, confused, manic, and seriously debating whether to attend her ten-year high school reunion – on one hand, she hated high school, but on the other, she's feeling hungry...
Logline #3: THE HACKSY (based upon "The Rembrandt" by Edith Wharton)- Feature - The worst has come to pass for art curator Teddy Rift – a shuttered museum, critical derision, and the end of everything he knew – thankfully he still has his oldest friend Eleanor, ready to fuck up his broken life in all the best ways, beginning with a shocking new discovery – famed street artist Hacksy has a new piece, and you better believe it’s confusing!
Name three movies or TV shows that inspire you: A New Leaf (1971) by Elaine May, All That Heaven Allows (1955) by Douglas Sirk, Night Moves (2013) by Kelly Reichardt, and Something Wild (1986) by Jonathan Demme.
