Short Bio: Isabella Garcia has always known she's wanted to be a writer. Well, there was a brief blip at the age of five when she wanted to be a librarian, and then another at the age of 12 when she said she wanted to be a therapist, and then another at the age of 14 when she said she wanted to be a marine biologist... But other than that, she's always known she's wanted to be a writer!
And now, she's here, getting her M.F.A. in Screenwriting at UCLA. Previously, she graduated from San Diego State University with a B.S. in Television and Film Production, has worked on the selection committee for the Austin Film Festival, and has had her writing published online.
Short Artist Statement: I write both features and pilots, specializing in grotesque, surreal imagery and absurd dark comedy. I would've given a lot to have had a queer, Mexican When Harry Met Sally growing up. Although I didn't have it, I’ll make sure someone else does.
Logline #1: PURGATORIO - Feature - Victor apathetically passes his time stuck in Purgatory until the odd arrival of a man, Daniel, threatens Victor’s after-life-lihood. But the only way Victor can get rid of him is by sticking with Daniel, and leading him through the half-formed and rough terrains to find Daniel’s wife.
Logline #2: SOMEWHERE TO KEEP YOU - Feature - Miriam, a desperate people-pleaser, tries to win over her best friend Jack's new girlfriend Trina, who despises her. But Miriam's attempts to do so only get more complicated when she finds herself with burgeoning romantic feelings for Trina.
Logline #3: THE SLEEP OF REASON PRODUCES MONSTERS - TV Show - After Gabby finds Ani, a severely narcoleptic woman, hiding in the trunk of her car, she decides to help Ani discover the meaning behind her strange, lucid dreams, and the people controlling her narcolepsy.
Name three movies or TV shows that inspire you: When Harry Met Sally, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Barry
